Respond to God

What does it Mean, What Are We to Do?

What are those people and that guy trying to tell us? Better yet what does God want from Us?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only and unique Son [Jesus], so that everyone who trusts in Him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through Him, the world might be saved. Those who trust in Him [Jesus] are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already, in that they have not trusted in the one who is God’s only and unique Son.” (John 3:16-18) Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

What does it mean to Love God and Respond to His Love? “…for the Lord your god is testing you to find if you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.” (Deuteronomy 13:3-4 NASB)

Jesus said, “If you love Me keep My commandments” (John 14:15). See also Matthew 22:37-40.

Sin, disobedience and rebellion have separated us from God. “… your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers.” (Isaiah 59:2)

Sinful man remains separated from God. We have all thought, said and done things which God calls “sin.” The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

The end result of sin is death, spiritual separation from God (Romans 6:23).

God demonstrated His love for us through the death of His Son. Scripture declares, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory (the perfect holiness) of God” (Rom. 3:23). “Sin” means to miss the mark and be in rebellion . Sin separates us from God who is perfect holiness (righteousness and justice) and God must therefore judge sinful man. “You [God] are too just to tolerate evil; You are unable to condone wrongdoing” (Habakkuk 1:13). “The end result of sin is death, spiritual separation from God.” (Romans 3:23).

The Good News is God sent His Son to die for your sins! Jesus died in our place so we could live with Him in eternity. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

But it didn’t end with His death on the cross. He rose again and still lives! “Christ died for our sins. … He was buried. … He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6).

Would you like to receive God’s forgiveness? “Jesus answered him, ‘ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” ( John 3:3).

We can’t earn salvation; we are saved by God’s grace when we have faith and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ. In order to do this you have to confess you are a sinner; turn away from your sin; accept that Christ died to pay the debt of your sins; ask His forgiveness; and commit to give all aspects of your life to His sovereignty, choosing to live in obedience to His Holy Word and the Holy Spirit.

He knows you and loves you. What matters to Him is the attitude of your heart and your honesty. You can pray your own prayer, or use the following example:

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess my sins ….. I repent my sins. I accept Your death on the cross as payment in full for my sins and I choose to dedicate my life to You as sovereign and redeemer of my soul. I ask the Holy Spirit to fill me and guide me.

Finally, Brothers and Sisters, Remember:

“Blessed is the man…[whose] delight is in the law[instruction] of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2). Great peace have they which love [delight in] thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” (Psalm 119:156). Jesus said, “and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

GOD’S Ultimate Goal

“And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.” (John 17:3 AMP)
